Welcome to HRS

Welcome to the Hoverfly Recording Scheme

The hoverflies (Diptera, Syrphidae) are a family of attractive and familiar flies that we all see visiting flowers. Gardeners welcome them because many of the black-and-yellow striped species have larvae which prey on greenfly and bacause of their important role in pollination.

The National Recording Scheme, launched in 1976, aims to collate information about their ecology and distribution.

Announcement: ACCESS TO NEW MEMBERS
Posted: Roger K.A. Morris @ Wed Jun 19, 2013 7:40 am
WE have closed the automated membership system and now have to vet each application. Unfortunately, we have no way of being certain that applicants are not spammers.

If you want membership please apply for membership and then e-mail me to inform me of the name you have used. If you are genuine you should be able to say something about your interest in hoverflies.

Regards

Roger
