We have some sunshine at last and there are a few hoverflies about.
So provided the wind stays down we might manage a record or two for this abyssmal year.

I did wonder about Scaeva but although common enough I've not managed to catch one yet.

I will try to remember to look at the early hoverflies more carefully, particularly as S. torvus may not have been recorded in the Uists.

Just checking. E.intricarius is probably one of the species we see most regularly. it is however very variable.
Accordng to the maps Merodon has not been recorded in the Western Isles, but ...
