Found a really good bridleway near to home which I have not explored before - can use the bike!

Farmer mows a track but still leaves 4 metres of set aside verge to his crop fields full of wild flowers and hogweed etc. Excellant habitat but hovers still a bit thin.

However did get a new species for me: Leucozona laternaria as attachment.

Regards, Jim Dunkley

I live in ne Northants, c. 7 miles from Northampton centre postcode NN6,
map ref SP818611.
It is fairly rural but close to town and with a good share of traffic - not particularly quiet!!
We do have some chunks of woodland very nearby and I am not many miles (say5) from River Nene valle, its gravel pits and Pitsford reservoir in the other direction.

Regards, Jim Dunkley.

I think that L laternaria is quite uncommon that far east. Will you be submitting your record to the recording scheme?

Yes - by all means via John Showers if not direct.

Hi Jim

Do keep an eye open for Epistrophe diaphana at this site - it can probably be identified from a photo but a specimen would be nice

Regards

Roger
