This is the first time I have sumbitted records so please tell me if I am missing anything.

Location: Brunswick Park, N. London - TQ 286 937 (hedgerows, nettles, playing fields, stream)
Vice county: VC20 - Hertfordshire

Eristalis horticola (determiner: Nigel Jones)

Location: Trent country park - TQ 283 966 (hedgerows, grassy meadows)
Vice county:VC21 Middlesex

These 2 I am not sure about, 1st one possibly Platycheirus scutatus? Both found in Brunswick Park on the 19th September 2009.

Hello Daniel

Many thanks for the records.

I don't think I can give fully definitive identities to your two specimens. The Platycheirus needs more careful examination under the microscope as there are several characters that cannot be discerned from photos. The other specimen - a Eupeodes - is probably luniger but I cannot see the frons and the junction between the markings on the tergites and the margin of the tergites is obscured by wings.

I'm happy to look at specimens.
