|
|
Evening all,
I saw a hoverfly today, my first of this species - I've never seen it before in three years of looking for Syrphids, and don't expect to see it again for another few! I can't remember the name, though - it's the one with striking eyes, similar to a few Tabanids.
Any ideas? No photo.
Take care,
Jason |

Presumably one of the Eristalinus spp., which have spotted eyes. aeneus is mainly coastal and sepulchralis more widespread inland, around water.

| Thanks Ian, it may have been Eristalinus sepulchralis. Unfortunately no photo or specimen. |
