I saw this hoverfly (link included below) on 26th July on hogweed in a hedgerow beside the lake in my home town Lydney, Forest of Dean.

I'm wondering if it may be Cheilosia, and with the patches of pale hairs across the abdomen possibly vulpina or proxima or velutina? Am I on the right track? I'd welcome feedback, thanks

Cheilosia yes
As to species - well cannot say with any degree of confidence - these need specimens to look at in detail.
