Newly emerged Eristalis rupium which according to your book lack the dark wing markings.
or is simply something I have just failed to recognise.

Hello John

I don't think this is E. rupium - the wings are almost clear. I cannot put a name to it with any certainty - the best I can manage is Eristalis sp.
