Quite a while since I last visited the ivy, or indeed been able to get out of the house because of the weather.
A slow start but a few hovers turned up

Episyrphus balteatus - male and female



Eristalis pertinax - female


Eristalis tenax - male


Eupeodes luniger - male and female Specimens retained



Meliscaeva auricollis - male


Platycheirus albimanus - female

The female M. auricollis is I'm afraid Platycheirus albimanus - note black scutellum and narrow dusing on the frons

Now why did I see female auricollis posted - now down as male P. albimanus! should be female
