Rained hoverflies pretty much all afternoon.

A great haul!

I'm not convinced about your M. mellinum - I think it is probably PLatycheirus ambiguus - note the hugely dilated hind metatarsus and the very obtuse grey-dusted frons - neither of which are diagnostic but are good pointers.
