Last autumn my neighbour asked if he could trim back my lilac tree that was overhanging his garden. I agreed, went off to work, and came back to discover that not only had he cut the lilac down to the ground, he had done the same to my buddleias and ivy. These had all been very much frequented by hoverflies and other insects. Can anyone please suggest some fast growing plants that will appeal to hoverflies that can replace them? (The neighbour did leave some brambles untouched, that the insects will hopefully be able to use!) |

As an annual, Phacelia tanacetifolia works fantastically and it is a green manure. You can sow it now. |
