I photographed these 2 species having retained them overnight in the fridge, before releasing them back in their original habitat.
Both were caught on flowering rowan trees in Anderwood Inclosure, New Forest at SU247067. The female S. lappona was found on 20th May (3 individuals in total were seen and S. silentis was also present) and a further S. lappona and the E. horticola were seen on 21st May at the same location.
Both are potentially new species for me, so I would appreciate confirmation of their ids.
Thanks
Yorkie

Certainly agree with the Sericomyia and the Eristalis looks like horticola, too (though quite a covering of pollen!).
