Roger I note with interest people asking whether sugary water attracts hovers (your facebook entry regards the Brackenbury lure)
So I thought I'd let you into a secret and show a photo taken today that probably gives the game away Smile
It' s obviously Myathropa florea - a HONEY of a hover feeding on that angelica plant.
It and others have been attracted to the angelica in numbers like bees to HONEY this week.
So you guessed yet Smile
I bought a 1lb - out of date - honey for 10p a couple of years ago and now and again a few drops find their way (By accident) onto flowers, stones, fence posts etc.
The bulk of my ruby tailed wasps are thanks to the liquid gold - they love it.
Only problem for me so do the wasps and those that know me will tell you how paranoid I am about those things.
On sorting onto todays photos now and will post later.
I'll include some shots showing the honey drops.
Feel free to share that exclusive tip Smile Smile
