I'm afraid I'm lost in a sea of thumbnails of extremely similar (to me) looking hoverflies. It isn't helped by the folded wings, but can anyone ID this please? Sorry the image quality is limited by the filesize limit for attachments. I can send a higher quality copy somewhere else if wanted.
It was about 1cm long.

thanks in advance

Andrew

currently I can't attach at all, as it is saying my 254KB files are over the 256KB limit (!) I will post this and see if a comment/reply works better

I don't appear to be able to upload any pictures here, so I have uploaded two pictures to a public OneDrive folder at http://1drv.ms/1S4Ti9r

I attempted to embed the images here but I can't get it to work sorry.

thanks in advance

Andrew

You need to paste a full url to the image in your post between img tags.
Example
Code:

[img]http://your-image.com[/img]

Both images are of female Sphaerophoria which unfortunately cannot be taken down to species level and would be entered in database as Sphaerophoria sp.
Could you post date taken, grid reference and the flower they/it is on so Roger can add them to the HRS dataset.

Thank you - I presume I should post this is the recording subsection, which I will do, but in case it is also useful on this thread, it was 22nd July 2015. They are both the same individual. The grid reference would be 52.487722, -2.152475 and it was on a potentilla bush.
