The first real session at Dalton-le-dale ivy patch.
Enough in flower now to be attractive to a few hovers.
A nice three hour sit for 8 species.
By the time I got back to South Hetton the sun had disappeared and the drizzle had started.
This gave the opportunity for a very short ten minute look.

Eupeodes luniger - female Specimen retained

Platycheirus albimanus - female
Syrphus torvus - female Specimen retained
Syrphus ribesii - female Specimen retained
South Hetton. S. ribesii also seen and retained

Platycheirus manicatus - female Just caught this shot as it took off - enough for an ID though

That was a pretty productive session John - nice ivy patch - I wonder if you will see ivy bees? |
